Valerie Kratochvil was more than just a player - she was the heart of the game. Her passion, determination, and unwavering dedication to field hockey left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of playing alongside her. Val’s energy, sportsmanship, and commitment to always giving her best serve as inspiration to athletes across Long Island and the field hockey community.

To honor her legacy, the Val K Extra Effort Scholarship will be awarded annually to two student-athletes from Long Island Field Hockey who embody the same love for the sport, relentless work ethic, and team-first mentality that defined Val. This scholarship recognizes players who go above and beyond - those who push themselves to improve, uplift their teammates, and display the same passion for the game that Val did every time she stepped on the field.

Through this scholarship, we continue to celebrate Val’s incredible spirit and ensure that her love for field hockey lives on in future generations.
